One in seven American women will, at some point in their lives, be diagnosed with breast cancer. And many more will be devastated to hear a loved one share the news that they have breast cancer.
Such was the case when one of our owners, Vera Trinchero, was diagnosed with breast cancer. This time, the disease really hit home, and the entire Sutter Home family was determined to do something. So, in 2001, we launched Sutter Home for Hope to help find a cure for breast cancer once and for all.
Since then, we've raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for research, treatment and education, working closely with City of Hope. It has been wonderful working with this remarkable charitable organization over the past eight years. But more importantly, it has been an honor and a privilege to offer whatever help we can to the thousands of families affected by breast cancer across the U.S.
Amazing strides have been made in the detection, treatment and prevention of breast cancer. Today, we're pleased to report that Vera is in remission, thanks to early detection and effective treatment. But our commitment to finding a cure is as strong as ever-it ain't over 'til it's over! Please join us as we continue to fight this very important battle.
Since we launched Sutter Home for Hope, we've been touched deeply by the thousands of letters and e-mails we've received from around the world. We are reminded every day that we cannot stop until there's a cure.
